Stars of six of the biggest TV shows of last year will be appearing on The One Show this evening.

John Hurt is among those appearing, in an attempt to grab viewers’ votes for this year’s BAFTA Radio Times Audience Awards.

Hurt has filmed a special segment for Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special, The Day of the Doctor, which will be shown at some point during tonight’s hour-long One Show special.

Other shows included in the same category are Broadchurch, Breaking Bad, The Great British Bake Off, Gogglebox and Educating Yorkshire.

This evening’s special of The One Show airs tonight at 7pm on BBC One.

‘The Day of the Doctor’ has been nominated in the ‘Best of British’ category at the 2014 Freesat Awards.

The awards celebrate the absolute best programme or series on the UK’s free-to-air TV channels, and the winner will be decided by a panel of industry experts.

Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor - BBC One

Sherlock – BBC One

Strictly Come Dancing – BBC One

Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway – ITV

Downton Abbey – ITV

The winner will be announced on Tuesday, 17th June 2014.

Two Doctor Who programmes have been nominated for BAFTA TV Awards 2014.

'The Day of the Doctor' has been nominated in the Radio Times Audience Award category and 'An Adventure in Space and Time' has a nomination in the best Single Drama category.
